Children of the New World

Times, they are’a changin’, according to a famous singer. The old order is shifting as world-systems evolve and, with it, a new order is arising. This order is more inclusive, more urbane, less elitist and less monocultural. While the many ancient nations of the world retain their distinct ethnic and cultural melanges, within the multinational and ethnic World Cities in leading nations around the world the more dynamic and diverse elements of society have been interacting for centuries.

With the exponential advance of technology over the last 150 years and the Dawn of the Digital Age has come a dynamic and revolutionary milieu birthed at the precipice of a new world.  Comprised of Technocrats and Spiritual Seekers, Political Pundits and Grassroots Activists, Societal Outcasts and the Paradigmatically Wearied, the Zeitgeist of the Times has shifted toward an even more dramatically fractured re-ordering of global power relations than any that has come before in modern or ancient history.

The potent mix of elements represents fundamental shifts in the inter-connection of individuals and populations around the globe, interwoven into a single, internet-facilitated collective of shared and divergent interests, social networks and hubs of interactivity co-creating a present that hints at a future beyond imagining, of potentialities unbound and released into the world transcendent to all prior conceptions.

Into this heady brew have been born children of prodigious talents, engaged in modes of communication previously considered science-fiction. Given the world they inhabit, a social-networking and memed digital reality intent upon subsuming them to the imperatives of the Quantum Singularity, post-Covid traumatized to shell-like, phone-locked hunched existence, far too many of them are isolated beyond anything previous generations might have called normative.

But this is the state of our collective slate and these children, with all of their inborn genius and talented potentiality, stand to inherit a world that they did not create, problems they did not ask for and prospects that do not promise much beyond subsistance unless they are able to harness that which lies inherent within them to rise beyond station into tableaus undreamt.

And they can do it.

They were born to create, to live, to love and traverse the span of human potentiality beyond anything that has been dreamt of before. It is going to take something to get them there but, examining the state of the world today, it is so very clear that we are in a singular and desperate time. While so much negativity and hate exist in the world, these young people are thriving. They are dreaming and manifesting and becoming something that the elder generations can barely understand.

Born digital natives, they are immersed in online realities at the earliest of age and navigate technology easily. Those blessed to also have exposure to natural realms are balanced in their understanding of their place in the world. Those relegated to the urbanized lives of industrious noisiness and compounded, staccato brusqueness thrive as well, their surroundings educating them early in the navigation of crowded, diverse lifestyles.

We diminish them by thinking they are unfit to inherit the world. Each generation considers their progeny so, and each generation, these prognostications and rheumy grumblings are proven wrong.

We are wrong again.

These children, starseeds, empaths, dreamers, creatives of all persuasions, are the bridge to the New Earth and their destiny is Eternity.
